Barrel Through Hunger

A Benefit For Kentucky’s Food Banks

Following the incredible success of November 2018’s Willett To Be Cured, in November 2019 the Bourbon Crusaders partnered with Four Roses Distillery and Fred Minnick and raised nearly $386,000 for hunger relief in Kentucky. The event benefited both God’s Pantry Food Bank and Dare to Care Food Bank and set a new fundraising record for the Bourbon Crusaders.

The Bourbon Crusaders and Brent Elliott selected two short barrels from a grouping of all ten recipes that had never been included in any private pick before. Guests received either an 11-year OESV (PS 26-6A) or a 10 year OESK (MW 31-2K).

Guests mingled with bourbon experts like Chris Morris of Brown-Forman, Dr. Pat Heist of Wilderness Trail, and the team from Four Roses, including Al Young, Marcus Niemann, and Mandy Vance. While dinner was served by chef Josh Moore, which was preceded by a tasting of all-ten of Four Roses’ recipes, attendees bid generously on silent auction items. After dinner, Emcees Fred Minnick and Ryan Cecil opened the highly-anticipated live auction. Barrels offered by four Kentucky distilleries plus other amazing auction items pushed the donation total past prior years’ totals. With the help of the oldest Four Roses barrel to ever be offered for a private barrel selection that sold for $65,000, The Bourbon Crusaders raised $368,000 at Barrel Through Hunger, with each food bank receiving $184,000.

All profits were donated to Dare to Care of Louisville and God’s Pantry of Lexington.
